Choosing the right monitor is crucial to experience the full power of your graphics card. A slow monitor can cause tearing, ghosting, and lag.
โก 1. Refresh Rate: 60Hz vs 144Hz vs 240Hz
- 60Hz: Standard for office work, but limits gaming frames to 60 FPS.
- 144Hz / 165Hz: The sweet spot for gaming. Movement feels fluid, and screen lag is halved.
- 240Hz+: Engineered for competitive esports players where every millisecond counts.
๐จ 2. Panel Types: IPS vs VA vs TN
- IPS (In-Plane Switching): Offers the best color accuracy and wide viewing angles. Recommended for creators and immersive gaming.
- VA (Vertical Alignment): Offers deep contrast ratios and black levels, ideal for movies and dark room gaming.
- TN (Twisted Nematic): Cheap panels with fast response times but poor color and angles. Mostly obsolete now.
โฑ๏ธ 3. Response Time & Sync Tech
Look for displays with 1ms response time (GtG) to prevent trailing pixels. Additionally, ensure the monitor has AMD FreeSync Premium or NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility to eliminate screen tearing.
